Parent Teacher Nights

Parent Teacher Nights are a wonderful opportunity to talk with your childrens' teachers and socialize with other STMC parents. It is an especially important opportunity for new parents to get to know the school and other parents. Even if your children are doing fine in their classes, Parent-Teacher Night should not be missed. Whether or not you are volunteering or meeting with teachers, come by and enjoy a cup of coffee.

The next Parent Teacher Night is Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Appointments are available from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. To book an appointment show up that day. (We do not yet offer the ability to pre-book appointments online but are looking into it!)

Parent Teacher Night is also great volunteer opportunity for both parents and students. For parents who volunteer, you get your choice of interview times before all other parents (this is the best kept secret at STM). For students who volunteer, it is a great way to accumulate service hours and also have fun with your peers - if you do both shifts, you get 10 services hours for 8 hours of work.

Instructions for Volunteers

  • Parents: Please wear your "Red Brigade" t-shirt (If you don't have one yet, contact Kathlene Gastaldo at gkgastaldo@shaw.ca). Also, IMPORTANT: please arrive a few minutes before your shift, to sign up for the teachers you wish to see first.
  • Students: Please come in uniform.
  • All: Report to the cafeteria for room and teacher assignments.
  • You will be assigned a classroom, where you will sit with a clipboard with time slots on it. You simply take down parents names and then time their interviews. When time is up, knock on the door to remind the teacher. Then call the next name on your signup sheet.
  • Sometimes parents will be late for their interview. When this happens, just go to the next name on the list. When the late parent arrives, slot them into the next available space.
