STMC is once again organizing a service-learning trip to Peru in 2013.  The trip will provide an incredible opportunity for students who want to stand in solidarity with those marginalized by poverty and injustice, which is an essential element of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education.

Participants will

  • work in partnership with Christian Brothers at Fey Allegria, a school in Canto Grande, serving families who live in the Canto Grande community by building and repairing homes
  • take part in home visits that involve assisting community members with daily tasks
  • connect personally with high school and elementary aged students of Fey Allegria
  • visit children of many ages in various orphanages
  • see firsthand the amazing work and dedication to service of Dr. Anthony Lazzara
  • be paired with pen pals from Santa Rosa School, Lima, before the trip

While the focus on the trip is clearly on service learning, the participants will also travel to Cusco and see one of the wonders of the world, Macchu Picchu. Additionally, they will explore some of the main attractions of Lima.
