Last year's spring drama production was "Thoroughly Modern Millie," an award-winning Broadway musical set in the flapper era of the 1920's. Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love - a "thoroughly modern" aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. Millie finds herself in the midst of a series of madcap adventures as she makes her way in the big city, finds a job, explores the flapper lifestyle, falls prey to the sinister leader of a white slavery ring in Hong Kong, and faces the ultimate choice between love and money.
The musical featured a score of jazz standards and was a collaboration between STMC's drama and music department.
