Post-Secondary Scholarships

STMC offers a number of scholarships.  Some require an application; others are awarded directly by the administration.

STMC Scholarships Requiring a STUDENT APPLICATION

Applications are available in the Academic Counselling Office or on the school website.
All completed applications must be submitted to the Academic Counselling Office by May 31st.

Anne Metzak Bursaries

The Parents’ Association awards two $750.00 bursaries. Students must apply for this award and direct their applications to the Parent’s Association through the Academic Counselling Office.  The criteria are financial need, good grades, contribution to the school and the community. The winner will be determined by the Parents’ Association in consultation with the Administration.

Friends of Paul Iannone Scholarship

A $500.00 award is given to the student who combines strong achievement in Athletics and Music.  The winner will be determined by the Friends of Paul in consultation with the Administration.

Mark Baldonero Award

One award of $1500.00 is given to a top science student who is also involved with outside activities.  See the Academic Counselling Office for details.  Preference is given to students heading toward a degree in Engineering or science. The winner will be determined by the Baldonero family in consultation with the Administration.

The Knights Of Old Alumni Scholarship

The Knights of Old Saint Thomas More Collegiate Alumni Association will award up to $1,000.00 in scholarships to a maximum of five students each calendar year, who best demonstrate the Alumni Association’s spirit and values.  The award winners will be determined by the Alumni Association.

STMC Stan Jean Engineering Scholarships

Thanks to the support of a generous donor, there are two (2) $2500.00 scholarships available for graduating STMC students who are pursuing a degree in engineering.  The winner must be strong academically with a high level of community involvement. The winner will be determined by the administration in consultation with the STMC Faculty.

Thanks to the support of a generous donor, there is one (1) $2500.00 scholarship available for a graduating STMC student who is heavily involved in the STMC community and has a strong academic record.  Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial need.  The winner will be determined by the administration in consultation with the STMC Faculty.

STMC Stan Jean Music Scholarship

Thanks to the support of a generous donor, there is one (1) $2500.00 scholarship available for a graduating STMC student who is enrolled in a music program at the post-secondary level.  In addition to a music background the winner must have an outstanding academic record coupled with strong community involvement.  The winner will be determined by the administration in consultation with the STMC Faculty.

Knights of Old Alumni Scholarship

The STMC Alumni Association will award up to 5 scholarships adding to a maximum of $1,500.  The students should be involved in the school, the community and share the values and spirit of the Alumni Association. Download the form at the following link:

Br. Carrothers Art Scholarship

This is a $500.00 award that is given to the best art student by the Art Department. This student must be going to a fine arts program at a post- secondary institution.

Art Prize

$200.00 the best art student other than the scholarship winner awarded by the Art Department.

John Favro Drama Award

A $500.00 award is given to a graduating student who made the greatest contribution to STMC’s Drama program.

Sally Gribble Memorial Scholarship

All grade 12 students will write an essay as part of their English 12 curriculum.  The student with the best essay will be awarded $500.00.

James Wade Bourget/Knight of the Year Award

The Knight of the Year is granted $1000.00.

Larry Johnston Award for Citizenship

This award presented at the Night of Knights is given a $750.00 scholarship from Artona

Brad Hardham Scholarship

A $500.00 award is given to the graduating student who best exemplifies a love of life, is popular with the other students, and is not receiving another award. This scholarship is awarded by the school administration in consultation with Grade 12 teachers.

Archbishop James Carney Award

Two Catholic students are selected by the Grade 12 Religion teachers and Religion department head. Each award is for $1000.00.

John Kozak Award

$1000.00. This award is sponsored by the John Kozak family and the foundation created at the school. This is awarded to the graduating student that best exemplifies John’s outlook on life: lives life to the fullest, shows strength and encouragement, treats others with courtesy and respect, inspires us to all be better people, displays true school spirit and inspires others to do so as well. This award is selected by the students.

The Terry Grant McLean Memorial Scholarship

This $750.00 award named in the memory of Terry Grant McLean, an alumnus, is awarded to a grade 12 student who, in the opinion of the faculty, best combines participation in school activities with concern for his or her classmates, sportsmanship and a solid academic record.

The CISVA Athletics Scholarship

The Catholic Independent Schools is pleased to offer a $250.00 scholarship to a graduating student who excels at Athletics at STMC.  The winning student can be involved in extra-curricular teams or in the PE Department.  The winner will be chosen by the administration in consultation with the faculty.

The CISVA Fine Arts Scholarship

The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (CISVA) is pleased to offer a $250.00 scholarship to a graduating student who excels in Fine Arts.

Other Academic Scholarships

The Parents Association and the Staff of STMC recognize the top academic students each year.  The top 5 ranked seniors receive scholarships ranging from $1200.00 down to $300.00.
